THE ALTAR GUILD
We've just completed a beautiful celebration of Christmas. The flowers have been removed; the Advent Wreath packed away; the creche figures lovingly wrapped and stored for another year. Before we move on, however, I wanted to give thanks for a ministry that makes such a meaningful difference to our worship life, although the ministry members are rarely seen: The Altar Guild.
This faithful and dedicated group of more than twenty members diligently prepares our sacred space for holy worship every week. Countless hours are spent doing detailed work behind the scenes. Cleaning, ironing, and folding altar linens, replenishing oil in numerous candles, preparing vestments and various adornments for worship spaces, packing kits for home communions, polishing crosses and candlesticks, cleaning pews, replacing holy water, picking up leftover bulletins and cards, and so much more.
Their careful and holy work is a prayer, a sacred offering, which indelibly and spiritually impresses itself on our church home. It is truly holy work. We might not see them at work, but God does. And God smiles. So, we extend a very special thank you to these dedicated members, led by Priscilla Miller, who make such a beautiful and lasting difference. PS they're always looking for others to join them in this ministry. If you are interested, let's talk!
