LOVING THE BONDEAU, HAITI COMMUNITY

Working together to improve living conditions for the people of Bondeau.

OUR MISSION

To improve the living conditions of the people of Bondeau, Haiti, by raising funds, providing in-kind gifts, sending volunteers, and providing clean water, basic education, health care, nutrition and shelter.

OUR FOCUS

South Florida Haiti Project’s ministries in Bondeau include education, a children’s home, clean water, food, healthcare, solar power, and community sanitation. We also provided leading support in the construction of Bon Samaritan Episcopal Church to help strengthen the community’s faith life. Our support is aimed at creating a culture of brotherhood and spirituality in the Episcopal tradition and raising the standard of living in Bondeau. Together, the ministries we support meet daily and long-term needs for people of all ages.

ORIGIN

St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church began its outreach program to Bondeau in 2003. The congregation started by supporting teacher salaries at the local school. In 2006, St. Gregory’s and other South Florida Episcopal churches built the new Bon Samaritan Episcopal School, and in the years since it has been expanded to grades pre-K to 11. A daily lunch program for the students was launched in 2008 and has since been expanded to include 40 local families. St. Gregory’s and others added a guest house, called Maison d’Amitie (Friendship House), in 2009 to help facilitate mission trips. In 2010, South Florida Haiti Project was formed to advance St. Gregory’s work in Bondeau and today includes the multiple South Florida partners.
