MUSIC IN WORSHIP

Music has the power and capacity to touch and stir our deepest emotions. Music goes to that sacred place in our souls where words just fall silent.

Last Sunday, as we celebrated Christ the King, I was particularly moved by our worship music. Tim included "Ride On, King Jesus!" an African-American spiritual, sung by our incomparable soloist Robin Lamp. At communion the choir sang "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence," and the deep tones of this classic Anglican tune brought me to holy silence. The rafters shook as Robin sang: "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." And, of course, we all belted out (even through our masks!) "Crown, Him with Many Crowns"-- a rousing and glorious hymn to mark the end of a church year.

Music at St. Gregory's, under the servant leadership of our gifted Timothy Brumfield, truly makes a difference in our life with God in Christ at St. Gregory's. Praise God!

Blessings,
