A VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS
Masks, distancing and sanitizing did not hinder worship, community, and the simple joy of being together at this past Sunday's in-person Rise & Shine service. The gentle energy of joy flowed in and among the group, weaving itself into the space as we quietly listened, prayed, shared Holy Communion, and adorned the tree with a lovely paper chain of prayers..
A beautiful feature was the Godly Play story of St. Nicholas told by Anna Thomas. No reindeer, no sleighbells, no red suits -- just the story of a man whose heart was moved by kindness and empathy for others, especially those in need. How essential it is during this hustle and bustle season, a season that is too often fueled by commercialism and frenetic activity, to pause and hear God's call to us to stay awake and prepare our hearts to receive the gift of the Christ child. It was all about presence, not presents. CLICK HERE to see a gallery of photos from last Sunday's Rise and Shine service.
