A ST. GREGORY'S CHRISTMAS

A St. Gregory's Christmas | Music & Readings of Advent and Christmas | Sunday, December 18, 2022

Music—it’s power to transform our souls, our minds, and literally our bodies can be astounding. I truly felt this power on Sunday evening when The Choir of St. Gregory’s presented “A Saint Gregory’s Christmas.” This program of music and readings was transformative in many ways for me personally. You see, I have the rare privilege and blessing to create, design, and rehearse with incredibly talented and dedicated individuals who, in the end, make beautiful and glorious music together. I get to not only lead them, but I get to be amid the music itself feeling every nuance, hearing every note, breathing every breath. I get to experience this every single Sunday; however, this concert was even more transformative for me somehow. The choir, the string musicians, and of course Robyn Marie Lamp, all came together in a spiritually moving way that I was at times moved to tears by what was transpiring.

I am grateful beyond words for our choral section leaders Anja Yargici, Adriana Portales, and Sam Cucci who give so much of their time and talents to St. Gregory’s and who often go above and beyond the call of duty for me. I’m so proud of our choral scholars Tab Jenkins, Jennifer Scott, and Avery Wolfson who have grown so much in their musicianship these past 6 months. And then there’s my dear friend Robyn. What an absolute joy and talent this woman is. She has the power to transform you before she’s even sung a note! Her effervescent personality, her warm and caring heart, and the sheer beauty of her talent is indescribable. Her dedication to her craft is unmatched and we were the beneficiaries of that dedication on Sunday.

How fortunate we all were to experience this culmination by these many talented musicians who truly made a difference in my life on this concert and who I know made a difference in the lives of all who were present.

Merry Christmas!
