Under the direction of Timothy Brumfield, the music ministry at St. Gregory's has flourished, truly embodying the theme of "Great Music at St. Gregory’s.” As Director of Music Ministry, Organist, and Choirmaster, Tim brings a world-class music experience to our worship and a wealth of talent and experience to our community.

Tim enjoys an extraordinary career as a pianist, organist, composer, and arranger, receiving high praise from critics and audiences alike. He currently tours regularly as a soloist and featured musician.

Tim has been a member of the Grammy Award-winning Paul Winter Consort since 1998 and has performed globally, including in Denmark, England, France, Japan, Italy, and Southeast Asia. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as pianist Dave Brubeck, drummer Max Roach, folk singer Judy Collins, the American Spiritual Ensemble, and the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus at Carnegie Hall. He has also performed for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with saxophonist Paul Winter and the Monks of the Drepung Loseling Monastery.

As a silent film organist, Tim performs annually at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York for its Halloween Extravaganza, accompanying classic silent films. Originally from Richmond, Kentucky, Tim served as Cathedral Organist at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine from 2002-2009 and as Associate Organist from 1997. He has toured with the Cathedral Choristers in the Northeast, Canada, and England, including performances at Salisbury Cathedral and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London.

Tim is also a gifted composer and arranger. His composition "A Place Called Old Kentucky," co-written with Louis Birro, was featured at the Alltech World Equestrian Games and is included on his CD "Kentucky Serenade." His mass setting, "Mass for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine," debuted at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in 2015 with The National Chorale.

Tim has received the distinguished award of Honorary Fellow of the National College of Music in London and served on the Board of Directors for the National Chorale in New York.

As The Cultural and Sacred Hub of Arts and Service, St. Gregory's is thrilled to announce the 2024/2025 Concert Series, a harmonious blend of musical excellence and spiritual enrichment that promises to captivate the community. 

The Great Music at St. Gregory’s Concert Series 

The cornerstone of St. Gregory's cultural outreach is the Great Music at St. Gregory's Concert Series. Featuring musicians and ensembles from around the globe, this series embodies the church's reputation for being "The Cultural and Sacred Hub of Arts and Service." Past performers include Grammy Award-winning Paul Winter Consort, the American Spiritual Ensemble, jazz legend Wycliffe Gordon, cellist Eugene Friesen, and jazz vocalist Dee Daniels. In 2025, South Florida's own Grammy-nominated vocal ensemble, Seraphic Fire, will return with a series of concerts.

Music, integral to Christianity's evolution, has always been a powerful medium for expressing faith. St. Gregory's has embraced this tradition, making music one of its greatest strengths. The Choir of St. Gregory's, under the direction of the Director of Music, Choirmaster and Organist, Timothy Brumfield, is renowned for its performances of both historical Anglican anthems and contemporary compositions, maintaining a rich musical heritage that resonates with all who listen. The Music Consort, children's choir programs, choral scholar programs, and various instrumental ensembles further enrich the church's vibrant musical landscape.

Choral Evensong: A Sacred Musical Tradition 

Among the most cherished services at St. Gregory's is Evensong, a quintessentially Anglican tradition that dates back centuries. Led by Director of Music, Organist, and Choirmaster Timothy Brumfield and the Choir of St. Gregory's, Evensong offers a tapestry of musical settings for the liturgy, including the Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis, and the Psalms. This service is a profound experience, steeped in history and spirituality, and is not to be missed. There is no charge for Evensong and reservations are not needed.
