The Light Of Christ
"The People who sat in darkness have seen a great Light"Last Sunday, at our 10:00 am Eucharist we celebrated the baptism of Lynette Thomas as we remembered the Baptism of Jesus in our gospel reading. It was a moving worship service that began in the semi-darkness as there was an emergency loss of power. But all our worship leaders nimbly adjusted and we experienced a glorious renewal of our baptismal promises. It was also a profound and a rather dramatic living out of the Epiphany message that the Light of Christ continues to shine into the darkness and draws all creation to the eternal light and love of God. As Fr. Ben was praying for the Holy Spirit to descend upon the sacramental gifts of bread and wine, the power was restored and the church was illuminated. The audible gasp from the congregation was a joyous recognition that Spirit was indeed with us.
