THE KING OF THE STARS

This past Sunday, the Sunday school teachers and coordinators had their first Christmas pageant rehearsal led by Anita Sherman! I popped over to the church a number of times and was amazed to witness the mindful engagement of the small groups. After an opening prayer and the ring of a meditation bell, Anita gave instructions, and off they all went (4-year olds to college students) into circles around the sanctuary quietly practicing their lines for "Behold, The Light of Christ: The Christmas Story." I heard murmurings from the prophets, the angels, and the magi. But a few responses from the wonderings particularly caught my ear. When some younger children were asked, "Who are the magi?" they replied, "The magi are the king of the stars!" "They're magical!" And when asked how they are like the magi, they said, "I'm wise and I love giving gifts." As a father, though, I have to note how proud my son Myrrh is for being the magi to bring Myrrh to Jesus.

May we put ourselves inside the Christmas story like these kids are this season and sense Incarnation - no doubt the very king of the stars - being born within each of us!

Blessings,
