THE GENTLE GIANT FOUNDATION

A year ago, the St. Gregory's family grieved the death of Dr. Doyle Patton, beloved husband to Dr. Maria Lopez Patton and father to Apollo, Eduardo and Nicolas. Doyle was a board certified clinical neuropsychologist, who provided comprehensive psychological services with compassion and tenacity to children, adolescents and families. Although his skills were giant, his approach and demeanor was consistently gentle. When he encountered the gap between need and resources, he lovingly bridged it with gentle benevolence and his willingness to provide the highest quality of care.

In honor of Doyle's memory and to continue his work, Dr. Maria is partnering with St. Gregory's to create the Gentle Giant Foundation. The mission of Gentle Giant is to continue Doyle’s work by providing high quality mental health services in an environment characterized by love and compassion to children and families that are having difficulty accessing these services because of financial hardship or limits to their healthcare insurance. Gentle Giant will connect children and families with financial hardship or limited access to mental health services to qualified and compassionate professionals and will assume the costs of psychological and/or psychiatric services.

During its March meeting, the Vestry of St. Gregory's unanimously approved the start of this new ministry. For more information about the work of the foundation and possible support for mental health services, contact any of the clergy of St. Gregory's.
