Tropical Storm Eta deluged South Florida last weekend and exacerbated the leaking issue in the church. The above photo of the passageway between the St. Mary's Chapel and sacristy area was taken last Sunday morning. Soggy ceiling tiles were strewn across the carpet and wastepaper baskets were serving as water buckets. Our "Called to Love" capital campaign addresses replacing roofing and the clogged drainage field which is under our parking lot. To solve the leaking issue, we must to solve the drainage issue. In order to solve the drainage issue, we need to dig up the parking lot. Our capital campaign envisions both enhancing our interior and exterior spaces while simultaneously addressing essential maintenance and structural issues. The two are integrally related.
