COMMUNITY ICE CREAM PARTY
This past Friday, the East Terrace reminded me of the last day of school. That was the day when everyone got along, you greeted everyone as if they were your best bud, teachers let you talk in class, lunch tasted so good and the bells that usually caused a simultaneous groan throughout the school sounded like birds singing in harmony.
This was all due to St. Gregory's having its first-ever Community Ice Cream Party.
It was made possible thanks to the generous donation from one of our parishioners. He received an unexpected rebate check and wanted to help. Creative thinking led to the Ice Cream and Gift Card Party. The joy that a simple cold sugary treat brought to so many was amazing! We had Italian Ice, nostalgic Bomb Pops, both ice cream cones and sandwiches, and even vegan ice cream to ensure that all had something to enjoy.
In addition to the enormous smiles that even the masks couldn't hide, each guest walked away knowing that the special day was for them and that someone thought of them and wanted to show them kindness in a unique way.
We even had a family of 5 come for the goodies. Only 1 of the 5 spoke English but the language of ice cream (love) doesn't need to be translated.
I am personally inspired by the young parishioner that took his blessing and gave it away to bless so many others.
