Chosen by God
GOD'S STORY... AND HANNAH'S TOO! HANNAH SHERMAN'S CHOSEN BY GOD STORY
When you think of the word testimony, what comes to mind? The beautiful words from Bill Lintz this past Sunday, perhaps? Most of us would think of a time when we have heard someone, an adult, tell us of their journey to Christ. Thanks to Hannah Sherman, that is exactly what comes to my mind. This past Sunday, Hannah shared her testimony with the youth. Witnessing a youth tell their story in an open and honest way with a profound boldness brings me inner transformation that cannot be described in words. Though I am calling it Hannah’s story, she would be quick to correct me in saying it is God’s story. She recognized God’s calling to her to step into the spotlight for His glory. She trusted that exposing her raw emotions and struggles would ultimately reveal the magnitude of God’s relentless and unfailing love that covers all. This past Sunday, Fr Andrew preached about finding gratitude in all things in all ways. Hannah spoke of the same. Though she walked in darkness, she knew that God was always with her.
There was no doubt that she was grateful for the darkness and the trials. That is what brought her into our Savior’s amazing light. That is what helped her to know that she, above all things, is “chosen by God to be called His own”.
May we all be reminded of who we are in Christ. We are all His chosen children. In Hannah’s words, just as our parents wait for us to stand on our own and in time walk, they are with us the whole time with arms stretched out saying I love you, come here my child. They are happy to wait for us to run to them and love them too. Thank you Jesus for your grace filled embrace for Hannah and for all of us.
