Dr. Kathleen Bishop, retired Unity Minister and current Zen Buddhist Priest, will join St. Gregory’s for this month’s Interfaith Coffee Hour on June 26 after the 10 a.m. service.
About her presentation, Kathleen wrote: “Buddhism is not a religion or a philosophy but a way of life for millions of people around the world. Part of Buddhism is meditation or what we call “sitting” to help bring peace, love, and compassion into their lives. In the modern world these principles have been transformed into even great secular practices through Jon Kabat-Zinn’s great work at Massachusetts General in teaching heart patients how to use these techniques to keep them calm, centered, and collected during their healing time and beyond. I hope you’ll join us for some history and practice of meditation to see how using these techniques at home, at work, and at play can bring you more peace, love, and compassion for self and others.”
