Parents of St. Gregory’s: The Parents of St. Gregorys Ministry was formed in 2001 to provide a venue for parents to meet on a regular basis to discuss parenting topics. The meetings are usually held on the third Friday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and include a pot luck dinner, topic discussion and group feedback. Child care is always available. The topics presented range from discipline, parent-child communication, college funding, marriage therapy, child safety, reading skills, adolescence issues, fitness and health, and Christian values. The topics are mostly targeted for parents with young children (ages 2 to 13 ).
Sunday School: St. Gregory’s welcomes all children age three to eighteen to Sunday School, held during the 10 a.m. service. Our volunteer Sunday School teachers and staff are deeply dedicated to providing the best church school education for children, combining a fun learning environment with Bible-based materials endorsed by the Episcopal Church. Our Sunday School children are invited to participate in exciting events through the year, such as the Butterfly Release and Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Pageant, Back to School Community Picnic, and End of the Year Recognition Ceremony. For more information about Sunday School, contact Anita Sherman.
Nursery: The nursery provides childcare for newborns and children up to three years of age. The nursery is open on Sundays for both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. worship services and extends its hours to accommodate parents wishing to attend activities immediately following the service, such as coffee hour or the monthly breakfast served by the Brothers of St. Gregory’s. Nursery care is also available during most church events and during adult Bible studies.
Acolytes: Children are invited escape their pews for a life “altar-ing” experience and do cool stuff like carry a cross or a flaming torch, strike a bell with a mallet, pour water from a flask to wash the hands of the priests, and march in parades down the aisles. Who knew church could be so fun? Learn more about serving as an acolyte.
Youth Group: This group for pre-teens and teens is all about finding Christ through fun activities. From paddle boarding to the annual trip to Camp Kanuga in North Carolina, our Youth Group helps teens develop their faith while enjoying fellowship, completing service projects, and building life-long friendships. Yearly mission trips are a major highlight; past destinations include Haiti, New York City, and Key West. This energetic group meets once a month. For more information about Youth Group, contact Gena Vallee, Director of Youth Ministry.
Confirmation: St. Gregory’s offers confirmation classes for teens that guide them on their spiritual journey and teach them about the Episcopal faith. Led by our dedicated and knowledgeable volunteer teachers, these classes prepare teens to become members of St. Gregory’s. For more information about confirmation classes, contact the Rev. Ben Thomas.
Serve Together: We encourage families to serve together on the altar by participating in our worship teams. Children age eight and older are invited to serve as acolytes duringSunday morning worship, and parents are welcome to be ushers, greeters, lectors, acolytes, and more. Make the sacred traditions of the Episcopal Church part of your family life! Read more about serving on a worship team.
